Nuvei to Acquire Payoneer in $2.75 Billion Deal, Creating Global Cross-Border Payments Powerhouse

Canadian fintech company Nuvei has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Payoneer Global Inc. for $7.40 per share in cash, representing a total transaction equity value of approximately $2.75 billion. The deal, announced on June 15, 2026, positions the combined entity as one of the most formidable cross-border payments platforms in the world, expected to generate roughly $3 billion in annual revenue and process more than $500 billion in annual payment volume for over 2.4 million customers.

Founded in 2003 by Philip Fayer in Montreal, Nuvei — then known as Pivotal Payments — was built to address a clear market gap: Canadian small merchants were overcharged and underserved by legacy bank payment processors. Over two decades, the company grew through aggressive expansion and acquisitions into a global payment powerhouse. Today, Nuvei's modular, flexible platform enables merchants to accept next-generation payment options across more than 200 markets and 150 currencies, spanning payment processing, card issuing, payouts, banking, and risk management.

Founded in 2005 and headquartered in New York, Payoneer specializes in cross-border payment services for freelancers, online sellers, marketplaces, and small businesses. The company enables customers to send, receive, and manage funds in multiple currencies across more than 190 countries and territories. Payoneer went public in 2021 via a SPAC merger and has since evolved into a full financial platform, providing cross-border payment solutions for freelancers, businesses, and marketplaces across 190 countries and territories. The company has built strong relationships with major freelance work platforms and online marketplaces, including Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Airbnb, Fiverr, and Upwork.

Together, the two companies address the full transaction lifecycle. The combination will bring together Nuvei's payment acceptance capabilities with Payoneer's cross-border payouts network, multi-currency accounts, banking infrastructure, along with same-day and real-time settlement in more than 150 markets. The combined company will also support stablecoin transactions — a notable signal of both firms' ambitions in the digital assets space.

The acquisition of Payoneer marks a defining step in Nuvei's evolution into a global financial infrastructure leader," said Phil Fayer, Chairman and CEO of Nuvei.

The merged company is expected to generate approximately $3 billion in annual revenue and process more than $500 billion in annual payment volume, serving over 2.4 million customers globally. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
