EXECUTIVE BRIEF
Binance began reopening withdrawals in phases on November 1 after the roughly $6.3 billion theft from its hot wallets, saying it has replaced about 95% of affected assets. Binance's figures are company statements; blockchain analytics firms attribute the attack to North Korea-linked actors, and a security newsletter reports the FBI has done the same.
Today's US earnings are Apple and Palantir, both after the close on November 2. Neither has reported. Previews put the focus on Apple's memory costs and Palantir's outlook. Separately, press reports point to an Anthropic IPO in the week of November 16, though most deal terms remain unconfirmed.
Editorial Note: prepared on the US evening of November 1, before Monday's US and Asian sessions. Reported facts, company claims, analyst estimates, and The CODEW analysis are labeled separately.

Cybersecurity: Binance Restarts Withdrawals After the Largest Reported Crypto Hack
SECURITY WATCHDates: Hack late Thursday, October 29; withdrawals reopened Sunday, November 1 (06:00–09:00 UTC first phase)
Per CoinDesk, Binance reopened withdrawals for bitcoin, ether, USDT, USDC, BNB and XRP first, prioritizing the most-requested networks, with later phases depending on each blockchain passing security and stability checks. Binance says about 95% of affected assets have been replaced with company funds, up from 90% a day earlier, that the remainder are tokens outside the top ten, and that "these losses will not be passed on to users." It says about $3 billion of stolen funds, mostly USDT and USDC, is immobilized because issuers can block those tokens, while BTC and ETH cannot be frozen the same way.
Blockchain analytics firm TRM Labs itemized the loss as 18,270 BTC (about $1.47 billion), 200,630 ETH, 1.875 billion USDT and 823 million USDC on Ethereum, 233.46 million XRP and 970,500 SOL, plus further USDT on other chains. CoinDesk does not reconcile these items with the $6.3 billion total. TRM and Elliptic name North Korea as the top suspect, and a security newsletter reports the FBI also attributed the attack to North Korea over the weekend; the FBI page was not opened for this edition. Binance first pointed to a compromised engineer's laptop and says its investigation covers additional points of breach.
Confirmed: Binance reopened withdrawals in phases on November 1 (CoinDesk, citing Binance).
Company claim: About $6.3 billion stolen; about 95% of affected assets replaced; about $3 billion immobilized; balances "fully backed 100%." A full proof-of-reserves report is promised but was not available.
Reported: Attribution to North Korea-linked TraderTraitor by TRM Labs and others; FBI attribution per a newsletter link (not opened); a headline that stolen bitcoin was split across 19 wallets (headline only).
Not established: The cause of the breach beyond Binance's early statement; independent verification of reserves; the reconciliation of itemized assets to the total; how much can be recovered.
The CODEW analysis: The reopening is a liquidity and confidence test more than a technical one. Whether users withdraw in volume once all networks are open will say more about trust than the replacement percentage does.

Artificial Intelligence & Frontier Models
AI WATCHDates: October 26–November 1, 2026 | Mixed sources; aggregator items were not confirmed against primary pages
Anthropic IPO timing. Tech Insider reports Anthropic filed a Form S-1 on October 26 for Class A shares under the ticker ANT on the Nasdaq Global Select Market, with Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley as lead banks, and that pricing is expected the week of November 16, subject to change. Raise-size reports conflict ($100 billion or more in one, $60 billion to $100 billion in another), valuation reports range from $1.5 trillion to $2 trillion, and the share count and price range are blank in the filing. The article says no on-record Anthropic representative has commented.
Alleged Mythos leak. ExplainX reports a Hugging Face repository claiming to be a leaked Mythos-class checkpoint. An audit reportedly reproduced 43 tensors bit for bit from seeded random numbers, and Hacker News readers call it fake. Anthropic has not commented.
OpenAI usage limits. OpenAI's Help Center says ChatGPT and Codex limits merge into one shared token allowance starting in December 2026; the exact date is not stated.
Reported: S-1 filing, ticker, exchange and lead banks (via Tech Insider, October 26); OpenAI's merged limits (Help Center, via ExplainX).
Unconfirmed: IPO date, raise size, valuation; the Mythos repository's origin (likely fake, per the audit cited); the exact OpenAI rollout date.
The CODEW analysis: Fake-weights listings are a predictable side effect of a hyped model name; treat any unverified checkpoint as untrusted code and data.
Sources: Tech Insider (Oct 26); ExplainX daily catch-up (Nov 1; aggregator).
Earnings Day: Apple and Palantir Report After the Close
EARNINGS PREVIEWDates: Reports due Monday, November 2, after the US close | Nothing below is a result
Apple (fiscal fourth quarter) is estimated at about $113 billion in revenue, up 10%, and EPS of about $1.98 to $2.02, depending on the tracker; iPhone revenue is estimated near $56.6 billion by Goldman Sachs and Services near $31.6 billion. CNBC has reported that Apple expects higher memory costs and raised Mac and iPad prices in June, so investors will watch whether gross margin falls below the 47% to 48% guidance range.
Palantir guided its third quarter to revenue of $2.160 billion to $2.164 billion and adjusted operating income of $1.292 billion to $1.296 billion. Consensus is about $2.18 billion of revenue; EPS estimates conflict, at $0.33 in some previews and about $0.41 in others. Options markets are pricing a move of roughly 13%, per TipRanks, and the stock trades near 105 times sales.
Company guidance: Palantir's Q3 ranges above; Apple's 47%–48% gross margin range (as relayed by previews).
Analyst estimates: All revenue, EPS, iPhone and Services figures above, and the options-implied move.
Not established: Actual results; the correct Palantir EPS consensus (sources conflict).
The CODEW analysis: Apple's print tests whether the memory price surge shows up in margins; Palantir's tests whether growth near 85% can justify its valuation. Both read through to the AI-infrastructure trade.
Sources: Tech Insider week-ahead (Nov 1); Stock Titan and TipRanks previews as cited there.
Asia Open: What Has Not Happened Yet
MARKET NOTEAsian cash markets had not opened for Monday at the time of writing, so no November 2 move in SK hynix, Samsung, TSMC or the KOSPI is reported here. For context only, the last Monday session we could confirm (October 26) saw KOSPI down 1.5% and SK hynix roughly flat, with AI-spending doubts cited; that is not new information for today. This week also includes central bank decisions and a US jobs report on Friday, November 6 at 8:30 am ET (consensus about 55,000, per CNBC).

SECURITY WATCH- Polymarket paused trading after compromised third-party website code; about $2.5 million was reportedly drained (BleepingComputer, via newsletter; date not stated).
- Homeland Security staff data for 40,000+ personnel was published by DDoSecrets on October 28, reportedly from an Okta system (TechCrunch).
- Claude Code VS Code extension on the Cursor marketplace was reportedly backdoored for nearly 12 hours (Ars Technica headline, via newsletter; article not opened, so scope and cause are unconfirmed).
- PHP2Shell: CISA added related vulnerabilities to its known-exploited catalog on October 26; one researcher reports chaining it with a Palo Alto Networks firewall bug (The Record, via newsletter).
Note: items above come from a weekly security newsletter; linked pages were not individually opened.
WHY IT MATTERS · THE CODEW ANALYSIS. Binance shows how the weakest link in a large platform can be an operational one: hot wallets and the people with access to them. The company's decision to absorb losses keeps the platform running, but the claims about backing and frozen funds still need independent proof.
The week's market story is the AI trade meeting its checkpoints: Apple's memory costs, Palantir's guidance, and an Anthropic IPO that, if the reports hold, would arrive within weeks. Each is a test of whether AI demand converts into margins and cash.
What to Watch Next
STRATEGIC PRIORITIES- Binance: later withdrawal phases, the full proof-of-reserves report, FBI and analytics-firm updates, and any recovery or freezing of funds.
- Apple and Palantir results tonight: Apple gross margin and memory commentary; Palantir's fourth-quarter outlook and any full-year raise.
- Anthropic: an amended S-1 with a price range, or any on-record confirmation of timing.
- Asia open: memory names (SK hynix, Samsung) and the KOSPI reaction.
- November 6: US jobs report.
Suggested Watch-series coverage: Cybersecurity Watch (Binance); AI Watch (Anthropic IPO, OpenAI limits); Semiconductor Intelligence (Apple memory costs); Technology Intelligence (Palantir).
