SailPoint Buys Entro: Strengthening Identity Security for the AI Era

In a significant move to address the growing security risks associated with artificial intelligence technology, identity security leader SailPoint has reportedly acquired Entro Security, a startup specializing in AI agent security, for approximately $200 million. The deal reflects the growing importance of securing machine identities, credentials, and autonomous AI agents as enterprises accelerate their adoption of artificial intelligence.

Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Austin, Texas, SailPoint specializes in identity security software, managing access for humans and non-human identities across cloud and enterprise systems. The company helps organizations manage and secure access across employees, contractors, applications, and increasingly, non-human identities. Over the years, SailPoint has expanded its platform through strategic acquisitions and product innovation, positioning itself as a major player in enterprise cybersecurity.

Founded in October 2022 by CEO Itzik Alvas and CTO Adam Shriki, Entro is a Tel Aviv-based startup was built to solve the "secrets management" and non-human identity crisis. As organizations have shifted to cloud-native architectures, they have seen an explosion of unmanaged API keys, service accounts, and AI-driven machine identities. Entro’s platform automatically discovers these assets, maps their activity, and detects unusual behavior, providing the visibility security teams need to prevent breaches.

Entro’s NHI security capabilities will supercharge SailPoint’s Agentic Fabric, offering enterprises unprecedented context and control in the AI era. As AI adoption continues to expand, SailPoint’s acquisition of Entro strengthens its competitive position in the rapidly evolving identity security market and underscores the industry's shift toward AI-centric security solutions.
