The acquisition addresses one of the most persistent bottlenecks in commercial autonomy: the absolute necessity for a continuous, secure, and low-latency human-in-the-loop fallback mechanism when machines encounter unpredictable environments.

Founded in 2018 and headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, FORT Robotics develops safety-certified hardware and software designed to improve trust, security, and operational safety in autonomous machines. Its technology is used across sectors including warehousing, agriculture, transportation, and industrial automation.

Mapless AI was founded in 2020, and currently based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with additional operations in Boston. The US-based startup specializes in vehicle teleoperation, remote driving systems, and autonomy supervision technologies that allow operators to safely monitor and control vehicles from a distance. Overall. the integration introduces "active safety" to remote supervision. Traditional teleoperation relies heavily on the operator's situational awareness, which can be limited by camera feeds and network latency.
